Pitman Browne
Pitman started being active in his community over 40 years ago, when he was elected the President of Nottingham West Indian Student Association. Since then, he has worked closely with Chroma Arts and has supported local writers and performer poets from the Black Community. As a successful pianist, composer and author, Pitman is also involved in performing and promoting gospel music in different churches across Nottingham. Actually, he considers that being able to create piano compositions is one of his greatest achievements.
Pitman`s main motivation for being active in his community is linked to the lack of cohesion amongst local African Caribbean artists. He recalls that when he moved to England, there was no accomplished African Caribbean author in Nottingham. Through his work he has managed to get creative people to come together as one and work towards promoting their art to the community.
