Bhavesh Jani
Bhavesh is the Head of the Nottingham Asian Arts Council and has been doing voluntary work since he was 16 years old. He has been working towards increasing arts opportunities for members of the Asian community, by running festivals such as Mela and by informing the community through a variety of ways (websites, newsletters, etc.) As Bhavesh`s father was involved in community projects, he has been interested in social work since a very young age. He spotted problems regarding the way young people were represented in his community. Consequently, he decided to become involved in the lives of the local people in order to help them face everyday challenges.
Bhavesh feels fortunate to be a part of the Nottingham Asian Arts Council, which enabled him to develop the Nottingham Dance and Music Academy. As supporting and empowering his community has been one of Bhavesh`s greatest achievements, he encourages young people to get involved in activities, meet their local community leaders and take forward the work others have believed and invested in.
